The two main types of heat exchangers are static heat exchangers and dynamic heat exchangers.
In static heat exchangers, the heat exchanger material is stationary as liquids flow through the device, while in dynamic heat exchangers, the material and components move through the heat transfer process. As the component turns, any given section goes through the warmer steam and cooler streams, allowing for the component to retain heat from the warm liquid and transfer the heat to the cooler liquid as it passes through.
